In this video, Myopia Management Coordinator Summiaya Shine shares a fun excercise to help strengthen your vision and especially if you’re currently enrolled in a myopia management program.
The excercise is a very simple one: playing catch outside.
Playing catch outside can help strengthen and train the vision in many ways. We use our distance vision when we’re throwing and use our near vision when catching.
Some visual skills that are utilized when playing catch are:
1. Tracking: following the ball through the air and into your hand.
2. Focusing: your eyes are trying to focus when the ball is moving in the air.
3. Depth-perception: making the connection between the brain and the eyes to figure out how far away the ball is.
Playing a simple game of catch can help strengthen visual skills and help the eye and brain work together.
